LCC is hiring a Communications and Office Manager!

Job Title:                      Communications and Office Manager

Reports to:                   LCC Executive Director

Hours:                          40 hours per week, some evenings and weekends required

Salary:                          $33 – 39,000/year DOQ

The Communications and Office Manager is tasked with expanding and deepening the connection between residents, businesses and the Longfellow Community Council (LCC) in Greater Longfellow.

The Communications and Office Manager is responsible for three general areas: LCC’s overall marketing and communications, event planning and smooth administrative functioning of the LCC office.

Tasks: Marketing and Communications

  • Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly email publications
  • Prepare and edit monthly submissions to local newspaper(s)
  • Prepare and distribute press releases
  • Manage and monitor LCC’s Facebook page
  • Use other available social media (Next Door, E-democracy, Twitter) to notify community of upcoming events and activities
  • Manage and update LCC’s website
  • Create flyers and other promotional materials to market LCC sponsored events, activities and programs
  • Respond to website inquiries

Tasks: Event Planning and Implementation

  • Plan and execute April and October General Membership meetings
  • Plan and execute semi-monthly Community Happy Hours with local businesses
  • Plan and execute annual events (Chili Cook-off, Annual Open House)
  • Planning and execution of LCC sponsored community events

Tasks: Office Coordination

  • Manage and update LCC database
  • Assemble and distribute monthly Board packets
  • Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable in accordance with audit standards, including receiving and paying invoices, preparing and mailing checks
  • Ensure that the LCC office is generally functioning smoothly
  • Check and maintain office equipment, postage and supplies
  • Communicate with equipment and supplies’ vendors when needed for feedback, repairs, upkeep and ordering
  • Manage and maintain filing system

Required Skills

  • Previous marketing/communications experience
  • Experience working with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Desire to work in a collaborative office environment and in team situations with staff and volunteers
  • Analytical abilities, including problem-solving and conflict management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office and Adobe programs (including InDesign).
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong writing and email communications skills

Preferred skills:

  • 4-year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Development of creative promotional materials
  • Previous experience with event planning
  • Proficiency with MailChimp, WordPress and Square
  • Familiarity with Minneapolis neighborhoods
