About the Longfellow Community Council

About the LCC

The Longfellow Community Council is the citizen participation group for the Longfellow, Cooper, Howe and Hiawatha neighborhoods. It is the LCC's job to get citizens' input on city proposals, and to make recommendations based on that input.

The LCC also develops initiatives that address housing, crime, youth and families, the environment, jobs and economic development, and a multitude of other topics that people in the community believe to be important.

Mission

The mission of the Longfellow Community Council is:

to improve the quality of life and develop a sense of community among the Longfellow, Cooper, Howe, and Hiawatha neighborhoods and promote their well being. The Longfellow Community Council will involve and empower the members of the community in all its diversity to take action on issues affecting their lives.

How Can I Get Involved?

Participate in a Committee: Community members meet regularly through LCC committees on a range of topics. Whether you are interested in safety, housing, development, the environment, schools, commercial revitalization or other issues, our committees are great forums to bring attention to topics that are important to you and work with others on planning efforts and activities.

Check the LCC Committees or Calendar section or call the LCC office at 722-4529 for more information.

Share Your Time and Talents: We have both one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities to match your interests and availability. Help plan community events, beautify the Midtown Greenway with native plantings, distribute flyers, translate materials, greet neighbors at community festivals and potlucks, write articles for our newsletters, assist with outreach efforts, help with website design, visit us at the office and help with mailings -- we welcome your ideas to add to this list! Call the LCC office (612-722-4529) for more information and watch this page for current and upcoming opportunities.

Donate to LCC: Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated. Your tax deductible contributions to the Longfellow Community Council can be mailed to the office at 2727 26th Avenue South Minneapolis, MN 55406. Or click here to donate online via Network for Good. Thanks!
