About the issue:
We are in the midst of an emerald ash borer invasion. Emerald Ash Borers are well established in Greater Longfellow. If you have an ash tree on your property, chances are that it is already infested even if it appears healthy. Once ash trees begin to show signs of infestation, it is likely too late to treat them.
Once private trees are visibly infested, the City will mandate that they be removed. At that point, it will be the responsibility of the homeowner to pay for removal, which can cost an average of $1,000 – $1,700. Ash trees in Greater Longfellow are disappearing quickly, but you can take steps to protect your tree or help mitigate the community impact of the EAB.
