Our neighbors Corcoran and Powderhorn Park are hosting a free burglary prevention workshop. Its free and open to anyone, so check it out!  A similar event to be held in Longfellow at the East Lake Library in April, so stay tuned for details on that!

Protect Yourself Against Robberies and Burglaries

Burglary/Robbery Prevention Workshop (free)

by Crime Prevention Specialist KAREN NOTSCH

Monday, December 10 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Corcoran Park, 3334 20th Ave S

The Corcoran and Powderhorn Park neighborhoods have seen an increase in robberies this year, and although Corcoran has seen a slight decrease in burglaries, one burglary is still too many!  That’s why two strong neighborhood organizations—CNO and PPNA—are teaming up to address both issues.

At a free training on Dec. 10:

  • Learn more about how and why Robberies and Burglaries are occurring
  • Learn how to reduce your chances of being victimized
  • Everyone is welcome to attend this free event!

All residents are welcome to attend this training, co-organized by the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD), the Corcoran Neighborhood Organization (CNO), and the Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association (PPNA). Questions? Contact Eric at CNO at (612)-724-7457; Becky at PPNA at (612)-722-4817; or Karen at MPD at (612)-673-2856.

The Longfellow Community Council invites you to a 3-part series of panel discussions on positive, community-based approaches crime and conflict. Join us for the first panel and learn about restorative justice and how neighbors from Longfellow and Seward created Seward Longfellow Restorative Justice Partnership to respond to youth crime in our community. Also, discover ways to apply restorative justice to conflict in your own life.
